Systems and Complexity for Change Leaders

Workshop Overview

This is a highly interactive workshop in which you will collaborate with forward-looking change agents from around the world to understand and learn to navigate the most important concept for change management in the 21st century - complexity.

Designed for change managers and organizational leaders, this course breaks down the mysteries of complex adaptive systems and gives you practical tools to navigate and influence change effectively.

Module 1

Understanding Complexity

This module establishes a solid foundation in complexity and systems thinking, helping you understand why traditional change methods often fall short in complex environments.

Module 2

Systems and Interactions

Explore the core principles of complexity, including complex adaptive systems, emergent behavior, and unpredictability. Using models like the Cynefin Framework and the Stacey Matrix, you’ll learn to differentiate between simple, complicated, and complex situations, understanding which approaches are best suited for each.

Module 3

Sense-making

Learn how to make sense of complex, ambiguous situations by moving from a traditional “plan and manage” approach to a complex adaptive system oriented sense and respond approach. You’ll learn sense-making frameworks and pattern recognition techniques. This lesson will guide you through interpreting complex dynamics, so you can respond effectively to uncertainty and recognize patterns that signal when to intervene.

 Module 4

System Interventions

Develop the skills to design, test, and adapt interventions within complex systems. By applying Lean Change Management principles, you’ll learn how to approach change as a series of experiments, iterating on feedback to drive meaningful and sustainable transformation.
